www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, August 28, 2014 | 24 Hockey tourney to support youth mental health The second annual Shine Out! Shout Out! hockey tournament will be held next month in Oakville in support of youth mental health. The adult recreational competition, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 6 at Canlan Ice Sports, raised $30,000 for Canadian Mental Health Association Halton Region Branch last year. The funds will allow CMHA Halton to start a recreationally-based peer-topeer mental health support program for youth/young adults (ages 15-22) this fall. Mental health organizations and support groups will set up displays and provide information at the event. In attendance this year will be CMHA Halton, Parents for Children's Mental Health, Posse Project, ROCK (Reach Out Centre for Kids), Partners for Mental Health, and Healthy Minds Canada. Twenty-one teams (approximately 280 players) are expected to participate in the tournament. In addition to the on-ice action, the event will also feature a raffle, silent auction, bake sale and children's games. For more information on Shine Out! Shout Out!, visit www. shineshout.com.
