With the encouragement of home town golf pro Sandra Post, each partici pant played 100 holes of golf at Blue Springs Golf Club in June. Each golfer collected pledges of $3,000 or more to raise about $75,000 for the CFO. "I'm happy to say everyone finished all 100 holes," CFO president Bill Smith said. "Unfortunately, though, some of us will be feeling the effects for several days to come." The golfers were Robert Aziz, Darryl Budd, Terry Budd, Adrian Coote, Bruce Etherington, Doug Ferguson, Alan Flewelling, John Ford, Dick Freeborough, Peter Gutelius, Fred Henderson, Tom Hierlihy, Bud Johnson, Peter Kosmack, Dwight Lacey, Gary MacDonald, Amanda Maltby, Andrew Martin, Jim Morrison, Don Pangman, Rob Sanders, Andrew Sipes, Bill Smith, John Tabet and Greg Taylor. Bill Boughner had to bow out due to injury, but raised funds and assisted as a volunteer. Proceeds will help defray the costs the CFO's operation expenses such as salaries, rent, professional advice, pub lications and mailings. Smith explained. Organized by a group of Jamaicans in collaboration with the Jamaican Consulate General in Toronto, there will be drop-off points for donations to assist thousands of victims of the recent flood rains in Jamaica. The rains, which began near the end of May and continued for the next 14 years caused 10 deaths, widespread flooding, massive landslides and exten sive damage to roads, property and agri culture. Families were flooded out of their homes, many livestock killed and roads completely blocked off. Approximately 8,000 hectares of crops were lost. Five parishes, Clarendon, St. Elizabeth, St. Catherine, St. Thomas and Manchester, were declared disaster areas by Jamaica's Prime Minister P. J. Patterson. Jamaica urgently requires donations of light blankets, towels, candles, lanterns and bedsheets. Monetary donations are also wel come.
