Head over to Downtown Oakville. The Downtown Oakville Business Improvement Area (BIA) is bringing back Movies in the Square Friday nights at 8 p.m., starting Friday (Sept. 12) to Oct. 3. The screenings are held in Towne Square, Lakeshore Road East at George Street. "September is a great time to enjoy an evening in Downtown Oakville," Sharlene Plewman, executive director of the Downtown Oakville BIA, said in a press release. Next edition of Oakville Improv Theatresports Friday Oakville Improv presents its next edition of Theatresports Friday (Sept. 12) at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre, 2302 Bridge Rd. The show, which starts at 8 p.m., features groups of improvisers who "battle it out" for comic supremacy on the spot, stated a press release. Created by Keith Johnstone, Theatresports is played by leagues internationally. This month, improv team Those Meddling Kids, featuring Brennan Asbridge, Emma Currie and Erin Fearon, is challenged by team Kill the Messenger, made up of Robin Sadavoy, Lynnae Duddley and Nastasja Palonka. The second half of the show features special guests, this time including Tonto's Nephews, a long-running improv troupe made up of comedy stars Herbie Barnes, Darrell Dennis, Michaela Washburn, Craig Lauzon and Sidd Bob.
