Photos by Jamie Smith · Special to the Oakville Beaver Artist's talk is V part of new photo exhibit Oakville artist Lynne Cohen will give an Artist's Talk at Oakville Galleries on Sunday, June 23. The talk will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Gairloch Gardens. Cohen will speak about her exhibition No Man's Land: The Photographs o f Lynne Cohen that was organ ized and circulated by the National Gallery of Canada and curated by Ann Thomas. The works are being pre sented from now to Aug. 25 in the Oakville Galleries' two venues, Gairloch Gardens and Centennial Square on Navy Street. The exhibition's official opening is tomorrow night, Thursday, June 20, from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at Centennial Square, followed by a recep tion at Gairloch Gardens at 8:30 p.m. Oakville Galleries in Gairloch Gardens is located at 1306 Lakeshore Rd. E. (2 km east of downtown Oakville). The gallery is open from 1-5 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday. Oakville Galleries at Centennial Square is located at 120 Navy St. in downtown Oakville. The gallery there is open from noon-9 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday; noon-5 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission to the galleries is free. Encore! offers students the opportunity to experience the thrill of performing on a professional stage at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts. This three-week program allows students in Grades 3OAC to explore singing, dancing, and acting as well as backstage technical work. All students participate equally in a full scale Broadway-style final pro duction as a means of cap ping off the summer camp. This program is taught by adult professionals and instructors and tuition costs $425. An Introduction to Performing Arts is a oneweek introductory program for students in Grades 1-8. Students get to try their hand at singing, dancing, act ing and prop building with teachers and professionals in a supportive, nurturing envi ronment. This program's tuition costs $125.
