The winner was 19-year-old Markham resident Charlie Woo, who just finished his freshman season at Louisville University, with a two-under 284 (74-68-71-71) at the Lambton Golf and Country Club in Toronto. He beat out Trafalgar Golf and Country Club member Peter Laws who shot 288 (72-75-69-72). A Mississauga res ident, Laws finished his freshman season at Kent State. The tournament wrapped up last Thursday. In seventh was Oakville resident and Trafalgar Golf and Country Club member Thomas Schupp at 297 (73-74-7872) and Oakville resident and Oakville Golf Club member Randall Oka at 299 (75-75-76-73). The Coyotes now turn their attention to a tournament that's very close to their hearts -- the huge annual Coyotes Waterfront Tournament this weekend. "The teams registered for this event are very good," said coach Marc Rosseau. "This promises to be the best tournament yet. We've got our work cut out for us this weekend." Oakville won last weekend's tourney final in anti-climactic fashion, 14-3 over Brampton Radicals. "Wow, this team is really coming together," said coach Rosseau. "I don't see one selfish player out there, I'm so proud of them." The semifinal game against Hamilton Power Bladers sure wasn't anti-climactic, it was the opposite. We're talking Irish/Spain World Cup finish, here. Oakville never led during the entire game, scoring with less than three min utes left to tie the game up at 3-3 and send it into a shootout. "Our goalie stood on his head and stopped the three shooters, meanwhile we scored on two out of three. That was the most exciting win of the year." In the preliminary round, Oakville tied Kitchener Waterloo Rage 4-4 and beat the Coyote second team and East End Saints. Oakville school athletes in bold face: E.J.
