Oakville mom shares Terry Fox's dream -- and once his diagnosis continued from p.1 Moody says her battle with the devastating disease made her who she is today. "Going through such a great struggle and overcoming it has given me such inner strength of knowing in our lives there are difficulties, but with enough faith and love you can overcome (them)," she said. Moody does live with a disability in her leg, however. Doctors had to place a bone graft at the site where her cancer was. Because of it, over the years, Moody says her ankle joint has deteriorated. "It's full of arthritis and requires injections every 12 weeks and medication daily," she said. Moody explains her decision to continually participate in the Terry Fox Run is due to a desire to give back -- she's raised approximately $15,000 overall. "When you've been blessed and given a gift of life, basically, given another chance, you just want to... do your part. "For me, to do the run every year, it's a privilege and an honour because I'm representing Terry Fox -- an incredible Canadian -- and I'm able to go out there with my little girl now... and continue to raise awareness and gather funds to go to the Terry Fox Foundation in hopes of finding a cure. That was his (Fox's) goal and that's mine as well." Moody has also been public speaking for 24 years, sharing her story with the public. She says it's exciting to share a happy, success story to inspire hope in others. "Especially now that cancer seems so rampant among so families, I'm privileged to be able to... say I finished a fight, cancer can be beaten," she said. "Terry is an incredible Canadian hero and to be able to say, `here I stand in front of you now, years later' -- I may not have had this opportunity if not for him.'"
