www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Friday, September 26, 2014 | 18 O Celebrate Culture Days with the Oakville Public Library n Saturday (Sept. 27), Oakville Public Library will join the Town of Oakville and several community organizations at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC) for Culture Days festivities. From 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Oakville Public Library will also offer a variety of free, fun activities for all ages. All members of the community are welcome to drop in for any or all of the following scheduled programs: · Tablet Time: From 11:10-11:30 a.m., children will have the opportunity to explore story book apps on tablet devices while enjoying a larger than life storytime. · Beads & Rainbow Loom crafts: Library staff will assist children aged six to 12 in creating beautiful keepsakes using beads and rainbow looms. All materials will be provided for this fun crafting program. It will run from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. · How to Run a Book Club workshop: Learn something new from the library's book club experts. Gain insight on how to get started, choose books and maintain lively, thought-provoking discussions. After an informative presentation from 1-1:30 p.m., attendees will be able to get one-on-one advice from librarians. · MaKey MaKey: In this program designed for tweens and teens, participants will get creative and play with what has been dubbed `an invention kit for the 21st century.' This clever kit lets imaginative youngsters turn everyday objects or drawings into working buttons, instruments or keyboards for games. Join the library's Teen Services Librarian from 2-2:30 p.m. for this creative fun. · More events: Some activities including a Meet the MakerBot 3D printing demonstration station, Story Corner for preschoolers and Play with LEGO activity will be ongoing throughout the day. OPL 's Digital Literacy and Local Collections librarians will be on site to demonstrate how to make use of the library's digital resources (i.e. how to download eBooks, stream movies, conduct genealogical research and more). More information on the library's diverse range of programs and services can be found at www.opl.ca. A full listing of Culture Days activities is available at www.oakville.ca.
