For music collectors, finding those rare albums and tracks was just made a whole lot easier- thanks to a new feature of The Beat Goes On Web site. The music store, through which members of the public have been buying and selling their used CDs and DVDs for the past 10 years, recently introduced what it says is the first Canadian on line reservation system for customers. And that's exactly who it's for. Oakville's The Beat Goes On owner and man ager Gary Clark said, "It's designed for customers. It makes it convenient for them to search for titles that are hard to get without coming into the store." The company's new feature allows customers to go on-line and create their own "Wish List" of CDs or DVDs, and request that they be sent to the store closest to them. The site is connected to all 12 of The Beat Goes On locations, and searches the inventory of each one. If the item is out o f stock, once it becomes available, the customer will receive an e-mail noti fying him or her that it's come in. At no extra cost, the item can be transferred to the store location closest to them. "So say you're a customer looking for the BeeGees greatest hits. You can just go on-line and scan the inventory of all 12 locations to see if it's in stock. If not, you can put it on your "Wish List" and then be notified when it comes in," said presi dent Gary Rocchetta. Until now, the service has been available to cus tomers, but not on-line. Those interested in a certain item could go into a store location and see if it was in stock. But if it wasn't, customers would have to return days later to check again. What's unique about the on-line "Wish List" feature is that the customer receives an e-mail when their CD or DVD is avail able. "It's one of a kind in Canada," said Rocchetta. "Instead of checking everyday, when there's a match, it lets you know." Also excited about the new service is Emerge2 Digital Inc., the Web design company responsible for introducing the reservation feature. "It will give customers the control and imme diacy of response that they are seeking," said Vice President of Sales and Marketing Bryon Thur. With the new feature up-and-running only 10 days, Rocchetta said it's a definite hit with The Beat Goes On customers. "We already have 2,500 CDs on peoples accounts," he said, with Clark adding, "It was very popular with customers right away. It's an extremely competitive edge for us." Offering a wide selection of music, including rock, jazz, classical, country and more, as well as DVDs, The Beat Goes On remains a forerunner in the used CD and DVD retail market. For about half the price of a new CD or DVD, The Beat Goes On provides customers with a wide selection of quality guaranteed products. The Beat Goes On has been located in Oakville for seven months, and can be found at 300 North Service Road West, in the Oakville Town Centre #1, at Dorval Drive. The store can be reached by calling 905-3371919, but more importantly, the company Web site can be accessed by going to www.beatgoeson.com. To start an account, look for the "Wish List" link.
