- The Guelph annual long distance running races were held on Thanksgiving day this year as usual, under the auspices of the Guelph Cross County Road Race Association. Six fast events were run off which were among the most successful that the associaiton has ever held. The interest shown by the general public was as great as usual, and the number of runners entered in each event was superabundantly large. Competition was keen and had the weather been a little brisker, records would have been smashed in the most wholesale style. As it was the time in each event came very close to last year, while in the five mile open, a new record of 25 minutes 12 seconds was made by a Guelph boy, Mr. F. Meadows.
Hamilton and Toronto each sent many competitors but the hunky Torontonians probably carried off most of the prizes.
The official records of this year and last year are as follows: [the last year record comes first] 15 mile run - 1.27.44 - 1.28.06; 10 mile walk - 1.22.27 - 1.22.50; 10 mile country run - 1.19.16 - 1.19.50; 5 mile factory run - 27.46 - 27.53; 5 mile open run - 26.21 - 25.12; 2 mile boys run - 12.41 - 11.44
