It will take place at the library's Central Branch, 120 Navy St., from 7-8:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The panel-style evening will offer aspiring writers the chance to ask questions and explore their options in regards to the publishing process. Tickets to the event cost $15 and can be purchased at any Oakville Public Library branch. Attendees will get a behind-the-scenes look at the publishing world from Stella Grasso, publishing co-ordinator with Scholastic Can- ada and Joyce Wayne, Sheridan College faculty member in journalism, published author and former trade editor and staff writer for Quill & Quire. Mark Lefebvre, director of Kobo Writing Life and Author Relations, will offer his insight on the increasingly popular ePublishing route. These experts will be joined by Rosanna Leo and David Bartolini, published authors of romance eBooks and juvenile fiction, respectively. For those looking to explore their roots rather than paths to publishing, the library will host a series of Family History workshops with its genealogy and local history expert. Two seminars -- I Want to Research my Ontario Family History and The First World War and Your Family History -- are just a sample of the library's offerings this fall. Deepotsav 2014, in recognition of Diwali, is being held in Burlington on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Crossroads Centre, 1295 North Service Rd., starting at 6 p.m. The evening of music and dance will include classical and Bollywood performances by professionals, a dance floor and a full-course, authentic Indian cuisine dinner. This year's event is organized by the Celebrate India Association of Halton. Deepavali or Diwali, is one of the important festivals celebrated in India. The Sanskrit word Deepavali means an array of lights. Diwali is traditionally marked by four days of celebration, and each day has its own legend and tradition. It is a celebration of life, the victory of good over evil, from darkness into light -- the light that empowers people to do good deeds. Diwali also marks the beginning of a New Year according to Hindu calendar and the last harvest of the year before winter. Tickets cost $30 for adults, $15 for children aged six to 14.
