KNOX, Judy Lee It is with heavy hearts that, after a brief illness, we announce the passing of Judy Lee Knox at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 in her 63rd year. She was born in Toronto, Ontario, June 30, 1950, but grew up in both Guelph and Fergus. Judy is survived by her loving husband Peter Perkovic of Oakville, her stepdaughter Katherine Perkovic of Oakville, her son Christopher Kotseff of Kitchener as well as her mother Helen Knox, and, will be reunited with her father Bruce Knox (2010), both of Fergus Ontario. Judy is also survived and lovingly remembered by her brother John (Jeanette) of Arthur, Ontario. Judy is predeceased by her sister Jane Knox Douglass (2007). She will be deeply missed by nieces Kelly Knox (fiancé Mario DaSilva) of Toronto and Jodi (Jeff) Ferringo of Guelph, nephews Bruce and Stuart Knox of Guelph as well as great nieces Arianna, Mariah and Lucia Ferringo. Judy will forever be in the heart of her aunt Greta, cousins Dylan, Tom and Lynn Kurp and Nancy Watkinson (Grant), and other extended family and close friends. She will also be deeply missed by in-laws Steve and Elfriede Perkovic and sister-in-law Maureen Perkovic, all of Oakville. Also sorely missing her will be her beloved pet, Cooper, her ever-present golden doodle companion. Judy attended James McQueen Public School in Fergus and John Ross Secondary School in Guelph. Early in her career, Judy's affinity for helping others drew her to holding various positions at both the Guelph General Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital in Guelph as well as St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. Her generous spirit and compassion to help other people continued, finding her a home in the non-profit sector by holding managerial positions at the CNIB (formerly known as the Canadian National Institute for the Blind ) Ontario and Variety-The Children's Charity Ontario. Judy eventually began her own business, running a thriving fashion accessory business, traveling and sourcing products from around the globe. Her talent for fashion ultimately led her to management positions in women's fashion - most notably, with Addition-Elle and Cleo retail stores. Her most recent career change took her to the insurance industry, where Judy held a administrative position at CURIE ( Canadian Universities Reciprocal Insurance Exchange ) in Burlington. But there was much more to Judy than business. Judy had many passions over the years; theater, curling, skiing, golf, yoga, cooking and trying new recipes, reading, gardening, spending time at her family cottage at Balm Beach on Georgian Bay, day trips to the St. Jacobs Market in Waterloo - not to mention, vanilla lattes, French macaroons, Mennonite baking, maple syrup, and salt covered chocolate caramels. She was a wonderful partner and companion, an amazing mother and stepmother, a great friend and a selfless and compassionate caregiver. She touched all those she met. By setting an example of a life guided by compassion and generosity and always putting others' needs ahead of her own - and always with a sense of grace and dignity and style. Judy will be remembered for her unwavering strength, her brilliant spirit, her genuine caring nature, kindness, compassion and generosity towards others. And as the years go by, Judy will always be with us. All we need do is listen with our hearts for her....for that is where she'll always be. We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. No words can suffice to express our deep gratitude for their expert care, kindness and compassion shown to both Judy and her family. In particular the staff in Emergency and ICU-2. Special thanks to Dr. Sayal, Dr. Kherea and Dr. Rehsia; RNs Natalie, Kaitlyn, Michelle and Sarah; RRTs Val and Cam. And a very special thank you to Patti McLaren for supporting and helping us through a difficult time. We also wish to extend our deepest thanks to Vasuki, Craig and most especially Ida of Trillium Gift of Life Network for their tremendous kindness, support and compassion in enabling Judy's generous spirit to live on through organ donation.
