"I will put my skills, experience and love for our community to work to make a lasting difference for Oakville Ward 1," she said. Oliver would look to honour the history of Bronte, reduce speeding on residential roads and make tax dollars "work hard and stretch far. "To maximize the value of services for you, and to minimize the strain on your wallet," she said. "I will work to reduce traffic congestion and improve transit to ensure we can move about quickly and efficiently." Johnston did not return requests from the Beaver to comment on his campaign platform. Ralph Robinson has served as councillor in Ward 1 for more than 30 years and is a former vice president of the Bank of America Central Ontario and Eastern Canada division. Robinson has been at the forefront to end a squabble between landowners that has resulted in a fence blocking off a portion of the Bronte Village Mall parking lot. "Despite being a privately-owned land area, I will continue to engage the mall landowners to resolve their issues and re-focus on the significance of the impact development of this mall will have to our local community," he said. Steve Maloney is a 25year resident of Bronte and is self-employed in the human resources performance training business. "Good government is much like a winning hockey team and it is critical that Bronte have the right people steering the ship -- it is time for a change," he said.
