There was concern for her health due to underlying medical conditions, according to police. Around midday Saturday, police, along with Halton EMS and the Oakville Fire Department, responded to reports of a body floating in Lake Ontario, near Water Works Park. Firefighters reportedly recovered the body of a female approximately 20 metres offshore at the foot of Kerr Street south of Lakeshore Road in southcentral Oakville . The coroner attended the scene and, according to Staff Sgt. Dwayne Perron, a post-mortem was scheduled for Monday at Hamilton General Hospital. It is believed the deceased woman had been in the water for more than six hours. While police are awaiting the results of the postmortem to determine a possible cause of death, they did confirm the body was that of the missing Burlington woman. "Police would like to thank members of the public and the media for all their assistance," said Sgt. Rhonda Paxton of the Burlington division. "This matter has been deemed a Coroner's investigation and the circumstances are not suspicious. In order to protect the privacy of (the woman) and her family, no further details are being released at this time," Paxton said in a press statement. -- with files from Eric Riehl and Graham Paine Halton police taped off a section of Water Works Park off Kerr Street south of Lakeshore Road, after a body was found floating in Lake Ontario Saturday morning.
