www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Friday, November 7, 2014 | 16 Ozollapa's wife avoids thinking of worst-case scenario Missing man's wife `frustrated' and `helpless' as search goes on dad and it's a difficult topic to discuss. "Initially I would just tell her daddy's working, daddy's busy," she said. "It's been so long now, I don't even know what to say." Harris describes her husband, who is sixfeet tall and weighs 170 pounds with a medium build, as a hockey fan who's "sociable," and maintains a close group of friends. "He'll walk up to a total stranger and just strike up a conversation. He's just very friendly," Harris said. "There's just something about him that is so endearing, and you can only experience that when you meet him." Ozollapa speaks with a strong Latvian accent and moved to Canada from the Baltic country approximately six years ago. "The friends that he does have are very close friends -- he's very connected within his Latvian community," she said. Neither of his two adult children, who still live in Europe, have heard from their father since his disappearance. "He's very close with his older son," Harris said, describing how Ozollapa was keenly interested in his son's professional hockey career and noting that they would text almost daily. She said he was also very active on social media, jesting that her husband was a "Facebook addict." "He was always posting something usually videos," she said. "Even if he's not specifically texting a friend, or me, you'd always see something on Facebook from him and that all just stopped." Halton police continue to search for any leads and were out near the Oakville GO station again early Wednesday canvassing for witnesses who may have seen something the morning of Oct. 1. Harris said police have told her their investigation is ongoing, but there hasn't been much in the way of progress. She has tried to assist by doing a poster campaign near her husband's last-known whereabouts in Oakville, and also where his continued from p. 12 the norm, and police assisted her in looking for any notes her husband may have left around the house, or missing items such as clothing or a suitcase. Police also asked Harris about prior history of mental health or substance abuse issues, but "none of that applies to him at all," she said. "I don't want to think a worst-case scenario, like foul play, but I don't know what to think," she said. "He's not someone who I knew to have enemies or malfeasance towards anyone, or anyone towards him." The couple and their daughter moved to Burlington from Orangeville, Ont., in June. "Our daughter, he's just amazing with her... so involved and so caring," she said. "If he has to be away all day, he'll call just to talk with her on the phone, or FaceTime with her -- he adores Kaysie so much." Harris said their daughter asks about her truck was found, but describes the whole situation as "frustrating." "I feel helpless because I feel like I need to do something, but I don't know what I can do," she said. "I try not to let my mind go to a negative place, but I have to admit at times it's hard not to and that's where I feel a little bit of anger that somebody may be involved in his disappearance and I just don't know what kind of person would do that."
