According to Halton Regional Police, the man, whose name was not released at the request of his family, died Saturday. The cyclist was rushed to Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries after striking a tree around 6:25 p.m. Thursday on Eighth Line just north of Grand Boulevard, south of Upper Middle Road. Halton EMS rushed him to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The northbound lane of Eighth Line in the area of the accident scene was closed for several hours as members of Halton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Forensic 40 Identification Unit investigated. It was dark and rainy at the time of the accident, which occurred at a curve in the sidewalk. Police believe the man was unable to navigate around a sharp turn in the sidewalk and subsequently struck a tree.
