At left, Gloria Lau of Homewood Suites scrubs the microwave in the kitchen at Community Living Oakville. At centre, Community Living Oakville client Joel Layne gives Kaila Howard a hug as the Homewood Suites team dropped in to clean the kitchen and art room. At right, Oakville Beaver Managing Editor Angela Blackburn and Subeditor John Bkila dropped off teddy bears to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital's maternal-child units to welcome new arrivals to Oakville and to help brighten the hospital visit for older children. The crossing guard had just helped the four women cross the street. Upon reaching the other side of the crosswalk, he lowered his sign and was surprised to hear one of the women say, "We're actually here to see you." "He didn't believe us at first," said Julie Henshaw, whose group left the crossing guard with a cupcake and a gift card, "but he was so appreciative." Henshaw and Halton Region Canadian Mental Health Association co-workers Julia Foley, Shadya Marshad and Diane Versace were members of one of the kindness crews who went out into the community Friday as part of Oakville's Random Act of Kindness Day. It was the fourth annual day, organized by the YMCA of Oakville with community organizations and individuals helping out to brighten the day of residents. see RAK on p.18 Claude's vaCuum shop HealthSense Medical When you need healthcare fast: Walk-In Clinic Short wait times Convenient location at WestOak Trails Plaza Great hours - weekdays 8:30pm 8:30am to 8:30pm 8:30pm Pharmacy onsite Supreme 100, 10 Years Warranty Includes Deluxe Air Package Sales · Service · Parts Free Estimates on Repairs Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday · 9am - 6pm Wednesday · 9am - 5pm Saturday · 9am - 4pm sale $39999 128 Kerr St., Oakville, ON L6K 3A7 905.842.5658 | claude2@cogeco.net www.claudesvacuum.com Short wait times! 905-825-DOCS (3627) 2983 Westoak Trails Blvd South of Dundas, at Bronte Rd info@healthsensemedical.ca www.healthsensemedical.ca HOURS Mon - Fri 8:30am to 8:00pm Saturday 9:00am to 2:00pm Oakville's Longest Serving Nursery School! · Innovative programs for ages 2-5 years ears including a separate JK/SK program. · Programs offered 5/3/2 days. · 1/2 day and extended day for JK/SK. · Beautiful location with an outdoor playground in a mature park-like setting · All staff are registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators (C.E.C.E.) · All staff have been with Crescent for 13+ years!
