"You have to have a framework of understanding of what the disorder is and have it integrated within a science, but to do that you must bring in literally the spectrum of people: clinicians, researchers, patient-advocacy groups," Stuss said. One of the ways OBI has done just that is by creating the Province of Ontario Neurodevelopmental Disorders (POND) Integrated Discovery Program. At its core, POND is an Ontariowide collaboration developing new treatments for children and youth with neurodevelopmental disorders. Stuss said OBI believes the results of an integrated healthcare approach to brain disorders, which he suspects isn't done anywhere in the world on this scale, can eventually change the way patients are treated over their lifetime.
