On Sunday, the Buzz were defeated 12-9 by Halton H ills Bulldogs and on Friday they were defeat ed 11-9 by M im ico Mountaineers. Ironically, the Buzz had won their road (and season) opener last Wednesday 13-7 over Markham. The Buzz w ill be hoping the road w ill be kinder to them as they travel to Barrie Friday night. Their next home game is a rare Monday night game (M ay 5), 8 p.m.. against London at Maplegrove Arena. The Buzz have another pro motion going on in the Hive that night, this time welcoming all Blakelock students by offer ing free entry. The move is to encourage more hometown crowds to cheer the Buzz who are looking fo r a first victory in the Hive. Blakelock students must bring their school ID cards to get in free, and to be eligible for a draw prize later in the evening. " The boys tried hard and never gave up, but still you can t w in too many games when playing shorthanded so often." Park student, was seeded second in the U-17 category at the national ju n io r squash championships in Charlottetown last weekend -- and that's exactly where she finished. In the first round she beat Vanessa King o f B.C 3-0. In the quarter finals she beat Chrissy Arnold o f Toronto 3-0. In the semifinals she beat Tara Chawla o f Manitoba, who had earlier upset the third seed Alisha Turner o f Ontario in a hard fought 3-2 match. Kumar beat her convincingly in three straight, dropping only a few points in the match with her tight drops completely frustrating her opponent. Coyotes tune up: loss and a tie The Oakville Coyotes junior A rep roller hockey team continued their preparations for the upcoming season with a couple o f pre-season tune-ups on the weekend. In the first game. Oakville had five different scorers in an 8-5 loss to Mississauga. They were Taylor Jenkin, Alex Pryde. Nick Randall, Ryan Kuri and Steve Lewis. In the second game, a whole differ ent crew tied Kitchener 4-4. Kelly Veitch led with a pair with single mark ers to Mike Collier and Reggie Carson. "Looks like it w ill be a great year," said manager Jay Labelle. "We had a surprising run in the playoffs last year with a very young squad. "This year we won't be surprising anyone." The league has expanded to 12 teams with Sarnia Bulldogs being the latest entry into the league. The league is now split into three divisions o f four. The Coyotes are in the Central division with Burlington. Hamilton and Brantford. The east is comprised o f Mississauga. Toronto. Bramalea and Brampton.
