W ith a new slogan: indulge in a lit tle O a kville ', and colourful posters mounted in the GO station, as well as spring travel packages geared toward attracting visitors, businesses are hoping for increases this year in the number o f travelers and the amount o f money they spend. The Oakville Economic Develop ment Alliance and Oakville Tourism Partnership launch the new visitor guide today featuring the many festivals, ; restaurants and attractions to enjoy in · 2003-04. Industry representatives w ill also gather Thursday to hear two presenta tions focusing on raising the bar in the , tourism industry and research findings ; about local tourism. It's estimated tourists spent $54.4 m illion in Oakville in 1998. In 2001. 'about 1.8 m illio n tourists included Oakville in their travels and spent $88 | m illion. According to Elaine Scrivener o f the O a kville Economic Development Alliance, the town is being billed as a " boutique location" with a small town ambiance, unique attractions, shopping, dining, plenty o f hotel and bed and breakfast accommodations, and excel lent meeting and conference facilities Some o f the highlighted events include: the O akville Waterfront Festival June 20-22 when Canadian music headliners David Usher. Zoning - The site is zoned Employment (E1) subject to the regulations contained in Section 89(680) and Section 90(25T). The special provisions permit a dental office in conjunction with residential uses in an existing building and a recreational fishing pond on a temporary basis. Proposal - The applicants have applied for a three-year extension of the temporary use to allow the lands to be used for recreational fishing. Note: This application may be subject to modification at the Council projection booth, parking for 195 cars, batting cages and miniature golf facility for an additional three years.
