Finale! is at 7:30 pm at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts. Chosen from the best musi cians in the Halton District School Board's Grade 7 and 8 programs, the group regularly astonishes audiences with the energy and polish of their per formances. This year, the group is directed by Mike Elmer and Steve Butterworth. The two have already led the group to a gold medal per formance at the Regional MusicFest in Barrie. They are currently working hard to pre pare for National MusicFest in Toronto this May. This is the third year that the Junior Jazz have shared a stage with the HYS. and one of very few chances for the public to hear them play. The Halton Junior Jazz w ill be sharing their stage with classical peers. The Halton Youth Chamber Orchestra (HYCO) recently earned a remarkable 92 from the adjudi cator at the Peel Music Festival. Comprised of string players between 9 and 14 years of age. the HYCO is becoming noted for their remarkably dis ciplined and musical interpre tation of classical pieces. Finale! will be a bittersweet performance for members of the senior orchestra and the Halton Youth Symphony Orchestra, led by Maestro Janez Govednik. Many of the HYS musicians will be gradu ating this year. The HYSO plans to send them off with a memorable performance, including music from their upcoming trip to the Ontario Youth Orchestra Festival and a piece composed by Mark MacDonald, a mem ber of the orchestra. Rainer Tan. one of the HYSO gradu ates, will also perform a Mendelsohnn concerto. Call 905-616-2760 for more information or vist the Web site at ww w.haltonyouthsymphony.com.
