www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Friday, November 21, 2014 | 24 A Corporate support ensures success of Courage Polar Bear Dip t the heart of the Courage Polar Bear Dip is the idea of helping those less fortunate obtain access to clean water. "Water for water has been our unof cial line for a few years now. It is a simple way to explain how jumping in the icy water on New Year's Day also saves lives by bringing clean water to those without," said Trent Courage, event cofounder. As the dip has grown, so too has the money it has raised for World Vision's water projects. Corporate support has been critical to growing the nancial success of the event and in turn being able to ensure clean drinking water for thousands. "It has been an easy decision for our company to support the Courage Polar Bear Dip," said Gary Reed, Thermor Ltd. president. "We have seen the impact our donation has made to improve the lives of those living without clean water and sanitation." Corporate support has come from local companies like Shoppers Drug Mart (at Third Line and Dundas Street) and Whole Foods Oakville, as well as international companies like Sun Gard and Hanitatek. The Tin Cup Restaurant has been a long-time supporter of the event and also hosts the post-dip party each year. "We were drawn to the sincerity of the Courage brothers and the volunteers, who work so hard to ensure that the most money possible makes the biggest difference for others," said Tin Cup owner John Stratigeas. One of the new sponsors who came on board last year is Oakville-based MOEN Canada. "Moen is pleased to be back again this year to provide corporate support to the Courage Polar Bear Dip, and we encourage other organizations to join us as part of this wonderful community event," said President Mike Dennis. The 30th annual Courage Polar Bear Dip takes place on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015 at Coronation Park in Oakville. The fun starts at 12:30 p.m. with entertainment and activities for all ages. The Dip itself starts at 2 p.m. Online registration is now open.
