Michael Harper and Jake Gawronski drew assists on Crane's marker as the Rangers finished the tournament with a 5-0 record, outscoring their opposition 33-5. Other members of the championship team are Mitch Adams, Alex Lardis, Landon Quinn, Jack Willmott, Anthony Sestanovic, Symon Reddin, Cole Patton, Cade Courage, Adam Boyd, Dylan Garner, Ben Seifer, Christian Gorman, Jordan Woods and Matteo Drobac. Paul Gorman, Pete Garner, Doug Adams and Dave Harper coach the team, and John Willmott and Shawna Gorman are the managers. Peewee A Defenceman Daniel Munro scored the game-winning goal in a shootout as Rep Hockey the Oakville peewee A white Rangers claimed the Motown Classic Cup hockey tournament title recently in Detroit. Riley Crawford was also a hero for the Rangers in the championship game, notching a shorthanded marker late in regulation to pull Oakville into a 4-4 tie with the Mississauga Ice Warriors AA team and force overtime. Scott Armes set up the equalizer with a tape-totape breakout pass from the Rangers' own end. Oakville also defeated Farmington Hills Fire AA 8-0, Rocky River Pirates A1 4-0 and Prince Edward County Kings BB 5-2 during the tournament, which held several games at Joe Louis Arena, the home of the Detroit Red Wings. Goaltenders Jackson Roode and Alex Zamuner each recorded shutouts during the competition, and Torin Hession was named the hometown hero MVP . Five local CIS rugby silver medallists Oakville's Emily Ricketts (pictured with OUA championship trophy) scored a try in the final of the recent Canadian Interuniversity Sport women's rugby championships in Guelph, but her McMaster Marauders were denied the national title with a 43-34 loss to the St. Francis Xavier X-Women. Ricketts' score came in the 55th minute to narrow McMaster's deficit to 31-26, but the X-Women scored the next two tries of the game to pull away. Ricketts, a graduate of Abbey Park High School, was one of five conference all-stars on the Ontario University Athletics champion Marauders this season. Oakville's Stephanie Black, Simona Ruso, Kaitlyn Perry and Maddy Seatle also play for the Marauders. Seatle scored a try in McMaster's 19-10 win over Guelph in the OUA final. Also contributing to the win were Tyler Diplock, Ben Teague, Patrick Dubreuil, Will Conn, Jacob Mathers, Cole Webster, Trevor Chau, Connor Calvert, Josh Platt, Kobe Arai, Michael NeilMahovlich and Charlie Langlois. Dave Bessant, Jason Diplock and Brad Webster coach the Rangers, Greg Teague is the trainer and Robert Crawford is the manager. Minor atom AA Tyson Rowan scored the go-ahead goal with five minutes remaining in the third period as the Oakville minor atom AA Rangers defeated Brampton 3-1 in the final of the recent Halton Hills `Best of the Best' minor hockey tournament. Brendan Bloom and Robby Gray also tallied in the championship game for the Rangers, who tied their first two games of the tournament before winning their next three. The siblings, both of whom attend Palermo Public School, were each division champions at a Halton elementary cross-country meet held earlier this fall. Natasha finished first in the Grade 4 girls' race, the second straight year she claimed a division title. She also runs with the Palermo Pacers 5K team and is a member of Oakville Soccer Club's advanced development program. Myles posted a personal-best time to win the Grade 7 boys' race, improving on his thirdplace finish from the previous year. He was part of Oakville Hawks provincial lacrosse championship teams this year in both box and field.
