In November 1901, Ford filed articles of incorporation for the Henry Ford Company. Less than a year later, however, in a difference of opinion with other in the company, Ford elected to pursue other interests. When he departed, the Henry Ford Company became the Cadillac Motor Car Company. Ford raced his "999" car and the Aero in 1902, to again prove his credibility. He hired Barney Oldfield, a well-known bicycle racer to drive the car. In true "No Boundaries" fashion, Ford used racing to reconfirm his capability and test the mettle of his cars and his ingenuity. And the rest, as they say, is history. Congratulations on your 50th Anniversary profile race in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Competing against Alexander Winton (the country's largest auto manufacturer and then-Oracing champion) and a car with significantly greatef horsepower, Ford was con sidered the underdog. But the spectators were astonished when in the 7th lapWinton's engine failed, and Ford's "Sweepstakes" won the 10-mile race. It was an important turning point. Financiers, watching from the stands as he accepted Bonnie Brviini M.P.. Oakville the winning trophy, were now ready to offer Ford the financial backing necessary to get his company off Ford has played an integral role in the development of Oakville.
