- Mr. Nathan C. Stringer of Little Current, Manitoulin Island, is renewing old acquaintances in this vicinity at present.
We are pleased to learn that Miss J. Smith, who has been seriously ill, is now on the mend.
Mrs. Robert Smithson of Toronto, formerly of this place, is renewing old acquaintances in our Hamlet at present. Although Mrs. Smithson is over 80 years of age she is still quite hail and hearty.
Mr. John McDonald and his son David left last week for Glasgow, Scotland. We wish them a pleasant trip and a safe return.
Miss E. Dolson spent Sunday with friends in Georgetown.
Mr. and Mrs. Milne and family arrived from Glasgow, Scotland, recently, and are now the guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. Milne and family of this place.
We are pleased to learn that Mr. John Rutledge, who has had a relapse, is now again on the mend.
The Terra Cotta Brick Co. are pushing their work rapidly. Mr. R.C. Gibson has been [crease in paper] company and we understand has invested $3,000 in the concern. Mr. Gibson is an up-to-date business man, push and enterprise is his motto. We wish him every success in his new enterprise. We understand that the company are going to build a wooden dam instead of a cement as was formerly expected. They also intend leaving the brick plant in the old place near the station. The switch has been re-surveyed and grading will be commenced shortly. They purpose running night and day when they get started making brick.
A number from here attended the concert which was given in the 5th line school last Monday evening by Prof. Phim and report a pleasant time.
Mr. and Mrs. E. Townsend spent Sunday with Erin friends.
Messrs. Dennison Bros. are doing a rushing trade building patent fences.
Mr. J.F. Gadke, our popular Miller, reports trade brisk at present.
The Rev. Mr. Gwynne occupied the pulpit in the Methodist church here last Sunday. There will be no service here on Sunday June 3rd on account of the anniversary services which will be held at Union on that date.
