Stewarttown 8th Jan 1906.
The members elect of the Esquesing Township Council met at 11 a.m. and having subscribed to the declaration of office took their seats as follows: John McGibbon Reeve, William Thompson, John Bingham, Thomas Snow, and Thomas Cook Councillors. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed.
Moved by Mr. Snow, seconded by Mr. Thompson, that the treasurer pay the following accounts: Municipal World, 2 books treasurer's receipts, 2 books, orders on treasurer, 1 treasurer's cash book and postage, subscription 6 copies Municipal World $13.80; R.D. Warren extra printing and balance of account, $31.00 - Carried.
Moved by Mr. Bingham, seconded by Mr. Cook, that the resignation of Henry Mullin as Commissioner for the village of Glenwilliams be accepted and that Charles Reddy be appointed in his stead and that the seal of the corporation be attached to this resolution. - Carried.
Moved by Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr. Cook, that the treasurer pay the following accounts: Henry Wilson collector refund of taxes of James Leslie's statute labor, $1.00; J.A. Tracy express on stationery, 75¢; William Bailey putting in cement culvert lot 7 in the 7th con., $[illegible]; that The Sick Children's Hospital be paid the sum of $10.00 - Carried.
Moved by Mr. Bingham, seconded by Mr. Cook, that the following accounts be refunded to the collector of Ward No. 4, being error in assessment; Adam Cook one dog, $1.00; Theodore Dunn one dog, $1.00; Philip Drummond refund, 79¢; Albert Cargill, $1.79; Andrew Anthony for taking stone off paper-mill hill, 50$#162;; that the collector of Ward No. 5, be refunded the following amounts: Mrs. Catherine Sharp to be returned against property, $2.34; S.E. 1/4 lot 31, 50 acres and W. 1/4 lot 31, 4th con., $9.87 to be returned against property of Isaac Snider. - Carried.
Moved by Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr. Snow, that leave be granted to introduce a By-Law to appoint two members of the Local Board of Health of the Township of Esquesing also a Sanitary Inspector and Sanitary policeman in connection therewith and that it be now read the first time. - Carried.
Moved by Mr. Snow, seconded by Mr. Thompson, that the By-Law to appoint two members of the local board also a Sanitary Inspector and a Sanitary Policeman in connection therewith be now read the second and third time and passed and that the blanks in said By-Law be filled up with the name of James Newton for the term of three years and John Campbell for the term of two years and that David McGuire and James Hood be appointed Sanitary Inspector and Sanitary Policeman respectively. - Carried.
Moved by Mr. Bingham, seconded by Mr. Cook, that leave be granted to introduce a By-Law to appoint Auditors of the Township accounts for the year 1906 and that it be read the first time. - Carried.
Moved by Mr. Cook, seconded by Mr. Bingham, that the By-Law to appoint Auditors of the Township accounts be now read the second and third times and passed and that the blanks in said By-Law be filled up with the names of William Bowman and R.C. McCullough and that they receive the sum of eight dollars for their services. - Carried.
Moved by Mr. Bingham, seconded by Mr. Cook, that leave be granted to introduce a By-Law to appoint an assessor for the Township of Esquesing for the year 1906 and that said By-Law be now read the first time. - Carried.
Moved by Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr. Bingham, that the By-Law to appoint an assessor for the Township of Esquesing for the year 1906 be now read the second and third times and passed and that the blank in the said By-Law be filled up with the name of George B. Thompson and that he receive the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars for his services. - Carried.
Moved by Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr. Snow, that the treasurer pay the following accounts: Anthony and Howes 54 ft. 18 inch sewer pipe at 98¢ per ft. $50.22. - Carried.
Moved by Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr. Snow, that the Clerk be instructed to ask for tenders for the township printing for the year 1906. - Carried.
Moved by Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr. Snow, that when this Council adjourns it stands adjourned till Monday February 19th 1906. - Carried.- Featured Link
