The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday July 9, 2003 - B3 Marathon of Golf raises more than $65,000 for CFO For the 24 avid golfers who partici pated in the fifth annual Community Foundation of Oakv ille (CFO) Marathon o f Golf, there's no such thing as too much of a good thing. On June 16 between daybreak and early evening, each marathoner played 100 holes of golf at Blue Springs Golf Club. The golfers each raised pledges of S3.(XX) or more. The proceeds of the tournament support the foundation as it links generous people with special community causes. Thanks to the remarkable efforts of the golfers and the generosity of corpo rate donors, the Foundation will raise more than $65 .(XX) from the 2003 Marathon. "Every year the Marathon's success shows us that people in our Town value the great contribution the Foundation makes to charitable organizations in Oakville. This event is key to our effec tiveness in serving our community," said Bruce Etherington. the event's founder and chair. "Sandra Post, one of Canada's leading female golfers, has been a tremendous advocate for our tournament and we're delighted that she has agreed to serve as honourary chair once again in 2004."
