And they ended up losing two straight (25-21,25-14). Next, they lost two straight to Barton (25-23, 25-14). They probably reached a low of the season when, against the lowest seed in the tournament, Harbord, they also lost the first set rather handily at 25-17. It was at this point, however, that they salvaged their trip to Sudbury, taking the match with wins of 25-19 and 15-9. Saturday was a much better day, winning their 9 a.m. game 2-0 over McNeil (25-20, 25-14) and 2-1 over Bethune (25-18, 22-25 and 15-9) which sent them into the consolation champi onship on a respectable roll of three straight matches. " We had a very good year and it was a pleasure just going to O FSA A ," said Mary Salvo, who coaches the Hawk team along with Deb Woolvet. Loyola knew a thing or two about championship games, hav ing made it to the playoff finals in Halton before bowing out to perennial powerhouse Georgetown -- but not before taking a game off them. Loyola also then had to defeat Blakelock a third straight time (after already having beaten them in Halton playoff and league play) to earn their ticket to the triple-A O FSA A champi onships. It was the first time for Loyola at O FSA A in boys vol leyball since the mid-eighties and coach Salvo said it can't help but be a positive influence on the kids in their future endeavours. " It's good for them to go and see some amazing teams. They were like well oiled machines." O ff the court, she said it " was amazing. They had it so well organized and they really treated the kids like they were important athletes." The team w ill lose several players to graduation, but a cou ple will return and they will be counted on to contribute their experience gained at O FSAA. " They should do well next year. They certainly won't be the powerhouse they were this year. It will be a rebuilding year, for sure." LO Y O LA : Corey Asadoorian (#9), Mike Asadoorian (#4).
