Sheridan's Zabudsky new chair of Food for Life Food for' life is hosting its holiday Turkey Drive Saturday (Dec. 13). At six locations, from 9 a.m.4 p.m., representatives from the charity will be asking shoppers to donate a turkey, which will be distributed to the organi zations partner social service agencies. In Oakville, residents can head to the Real Canadian Su perstore Oak Park, 201 Oak Park Blvd., and Fortinos, 173 Lakeshore Rd. Zabudsky is currently a member of the board of the Halton Industry Education Council, member of the Mis sissauga Board of Trade, and board member of the Peel Children and Youth Initiative. He previously chaired the Oakville United Way Cam paign in 2011 and the United Way of Winnipeg Campaign in 2009, as well as serve on the board of the Winnipeg Harvest Food Bank. "Dr. Zabudsky brings to Food for life the leadership skills to take us through accel erated growth and program di versification," said a statement from Food for life. "He has the skills and ex perience to lead our dedicated team of volunteer board mem bers, and help guide the orga nization's management and operations. Garry Rai, of Team Garry Rai, is hosting his inaugural toy drive in support of the lo cal firefighters' initiative. New, unwrapped toys will be collected Saturday (Dec. 13) at the Tandoori Cook house, 2501 Prince Michael Dr., from 2-4 p.m. Santa and Oakville Fire fighters will be on hand. Gifts are especially in need for infants and children aged 12 and older. Suggestions include: sports equipment; electron ics; headphones; posters; cal endars; journals; schpol sup plies and backpacks; movies; winter hats and gloves; jew elry; hair accessories; nail polish and makeup; blan kets; and gift cards.
