Now, however, they will turn their attention away from their clim b up the National W omen's Hockey League (N W H L) standings for this Friday's m uch-anticipated international hockey exhibition. The Ice are hosting Team China at Ice Sports Arena, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Last weekend, the Ice defeated the Quebec Avalanche 5-1 on Saturday night and settled for a 3-3 overtime tic with M ontreal Axion on Sunday afternoon. In the Saturday night game, the hosts opened the scoring on a pow er play two minutes into the gam e before Oakville exploded for five unan swered goals, leading 2 - 1 and 4-1. respectively at the breaks. Tania Penelli tossed aside 50 o f the 53 shots that came her way. Oakville peppered Montreal with 41 shots, scoring on three o f them. Not a bad result for the Ice who were missing their formidable American trio who were off help ing the U.S. to a shootout cham pionship victory over Canada in the Four Nations Cup -- Kim Insalaco, Kristin King and Genevieve Richardson.
