NOTICE OF STUDY COMMENCEMENT Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW)/Ford Drive Structure for the Southwest Ramp Design-Build 2013-2050 THE PROJECT Dufferin Construction Company has been retained to design and construct a new QEW southwest (SW) ramp structure with 20 m embankments over Ford Drive (Regional Road 13) on behalf of the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO). The Project is located in the Town of Oakville, within the Ministry's QEW/Highway 403 right-of-way (ROW). THE PROCESS The MTO completed a Preliminary Design Study for the proposed improvements as part of a larger study that included the future expansion of the QEW and Highway 403. The study was documented in a Transportation Environmental Study Report that received environmental clearance in the Fall, 2013. The purpose of this study is to complete the detail design to facilitate construction of the new QEW SW ramp structure and associated embankments. The study is following the approved environmental planning process for a Group `B' project as described in the Ministry's Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) for Provincial Transportation Facilities (2000), with the opportunity for public input. Upon completion of this detail design study, a Design and Construction Report (DCR) will be prepared and made available for a 30-day public/agency review period. A Notice of Study Completion will be published in this newspaper at the study's conclusion, indicating the locations where copies of the DCR can be reviewed. COMMENTS We are interested in hearing any comments you may have about the study and/or the Project. Your comments and information will assist the Project Team in meeting the Class EA requirements.
