www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, January 1, 2015 | 44 Minor peewee AE Rangers have learned how to compete in first year of rep continued from p.42 the Ontario Minor Hockey Association playdowns. "We've had some good practices, and our coach has some pretty good drills. We've had a lot of chances to move around players and see who makes good chemistry together," said O'Coin, an 11-year-old student at St. Dominic elementary school. Robertson said his players -- most of them new to rep, as the Minor Oaks Hockey Association added teams in several divisions this year -- have also discovered what it takes to win at a higher level. "They spent the first month learning how to compete on a day-to-day basis," Robertson said. "They know how to compete now. They know it's 100 per cent every time... We're getting to a point where we might not win, but we're not going to lose, if you know what I mean." Other members of the champion Rangers team are Tyler Bolender, Shane Dormer, Simon Dowd, Josh Finkle, Nolan Johnson, Josh Nesbitt, Mark Novakovic, Thomas Rea, Logan Reid, Travis Robertson and Aiden Sholdice. No local finalists in bantam or midget The minor peewee AE team and the minor atom AA, A and AE squads (story, page 42) were the only Oakville Rangers clubs to reach division finals at the annual holiday tournament for minor-aged divisions. The minor peewee AAA and AA Rangers #1 both lost quarter-final games Tuesday morning while the minor peewee As were eliminated in the semifinals Monday. All three teams went 3-1 in the opening round. In minor bantam, the AAA Rangers advanced the furthest, falling in the semifinals to Brantford Monday afternoon. The minor midget AA Rangers were ousted by the Niagara Falls Flyers in Tuesday's quarter-final round, and the minor midget A Rangers Blue fell in the semifinals to the Guelph Gryphons. -- Jon Kuiperij TO A Game Based LearninG Soccer Player Development InnovatIve technIques to Develop InDIvIDual skIll Brain Based LearninG soccer player Development Both NoW IN oAKVILLE! 905-467-2775 Learn more anD register at POWERED BY aPeXFootYLaB.com XFootYLaB.com Program Director: Dino LoPez CANLAN ICE SPORTS | Winter Programs LEARN TO SKATE The Canlan Ice Sports Skating Academy offers skating development programs to meet the needs of any child or adult.
