They are Ron Brown o f Port Carling, Ont., and formerly Oakville; Rolph Huband of Oakville; and Sandra Post-McDermid of Caledon and for merly Oakville. As the founding executive director o f Canine Vision Canada, Brown has demonstrated great initiative and deter mination. One o f the first o f its kind in the country, the Oakville-based facility he founded in 1985 trains dogs and pro vides them, at no cost, to Canadians liv ing with disabilities. He has been tireless in his efforts to promote awareness o f the program, which is entirely funded by charitable donations. Thanks to his dedication, the pro gram that has becom e the Lions Foundation o f Canada has expanded from training and providing dog guides for the blind to include trained dogs for the deaf and special needs, enabling hundreds of people to enjoy new-found independence. As former vice-president of the Hudson's Bay Company, he coordinated the donation o f the company's archives, museum artifacts and full-size replica of the merchant ship Nonsuch to the Manitoba government. This priceless historical collection, which documents the settlement of western Canada in the 17th and 18th centuries, is now accessible to scholars, researchers and the general public. As founding chair o f Canada's National History Society and former publisher of The Beaver magazine and director of the Hudson's Bay History Foundation, he has helped to promote and develop the growing interest of Canadian history. Huband is retired. One o f the greatest Canadian Sandra Post-McDermid women golfers, Post-McDermid has distinguished herself in international tournaments and as an ambassador and role model for the sport. Canada's first player on the Ladies Professional G olf Association (LPGA) Tour, she won several major tourna ments during her professional career. Named Canada's Athlete of the Year for 1979, she was later inducted into the Canadian and Ontario golf halls of fame. Beyond her notable sporting accomplishments, she has been an active supporter and fundraiser for many community and charitable caus es. These three are among 109 recipi ents of the Order of Canada who will be honoured by Governor General Adrienne Clarkson at a future date. Little .
