Halton police said officers had responded to a gun call at a Churchill Avenue residence, near Trafalgar Road and the QEW at 10:45 p.m. A 45-year-old Hamilton man came to the home to settle dispute over a debt and is accused of threatening the victim. Hearing the man at the front door, the resident had opened his second storey window and told police he believed the man was carrying E C N A R A E L C M O O R W O H S W! a handgun. The suspect fled the area, but was spotted leaving the area in a red Honda. Const. Chantal Corner said officers followed the vehicle to where the tactical officers participated in the high-risk traffic stop. "If we are going to (attempt) that type of arrest, the location of the traffic stop is important as to where we can pull that vehicle over to alleviate any sort of public safety issues," Corner said. Investigators carried out a search of the vehicle with a canine unit while two people remained in custody. The passenger was released unconditionally, police said. Clint Charles has been charged with uttering threats, and two counts for possession of a controlled substance.
