The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday August 28, 2002 - B3 Oakville School of Dance grad accepted into Alberta Ballet The Oakville School of Dance is proud to announce that Mary Podgorski, has been accepted into the prestigious Alberta Ballet. An incredible accomplishment for this ballet senior gradu ate who has been at the Oakville School of Dance since age four. She graduated this year with honours in the Oakville School of Dance's Professional Program, Advanced Level. Mary has danced the solo role of the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Oakville Ballet Company's Nutcracker three consecutive years. Despite leaving her fellow students and friends, she says she is looking forward to these exciting challenges. One of the oldest ballet schools in Ontario, the Oakville School of Dance provides a variety of individual forms of dance instruction built upon a solid grounding in classical bal let. Nestled in downtown Oakville, the private school is wide ly recognized throughout North America. Founded by Elizabeth Paterson in 1960, and now handled by her daughter Amanda, who has performed in various productions around the globe, Oakville School of Dance is the only ballet school in downtown Oakville. Offering boys full scholarships, adult day and evening classes, beginner to professional ballet, jazz, modem, spanish, character dance, and pilates body conditioning, everyone is welcome at the Oakville School of Dance. All teachers are masters of their field and undergo rigorous auditions. All students have the chance to audi tion for companies around the world and local productions that the School holds annually, like the Nutcracker, or their Spring Evening of Dance, a classi cal and contemporary repertoire that shows off the School at its best.
