Kach m o n t h . \u * a w a r d a d e s e r \ i n g te a c h e r RIDE starts tonight jfl Drivers, consider yourselves warned: the Halton Regional Police 2004 RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program starts today (Wednesday) and will be in operation every night during December. The official launch of the Holiday RIDE program took place on Nov. 25 at Variety Village in Toronto, when officers from the Halton Regional Police Service joined other policing partners o f the Greater Toronto Area at the launch of the 17th year of Passport to RIDE. Also this year, Halton Regional Police are continuing their partnership with MADD Halton/Peel. and their members will be out with the police at RIDE spotchecks to help pass on the message against drinking and driving. Officers will also part ner with the OPP and CN police to conduct RIDE checks. During last year's five-week blitz, 32,365 vehicles were stopped but only three motorists were charged with impaired driving. In addition, a total of 209 roadside screening device tests were conducted. 46 12-hour licence suspensions were issued, 200 Highway Traffic Act charges were filed and 634 warnings/cautions issued. $ B W ^ i ^ JUL with their story in the p ap er and a pizza party for th eir students.
