Firefighters called to do rope rescue of teen by Michael Gregory Oakville Beaver Staff 3 | Thursday, February 5, 2015 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Oakville firefighters performed a rope rescue early Tuesday evening to reach a 15-yearold youth who was on a side of a cliff in Wildwoods Park. Oakville fire crews and Halton paramedics were called to the scene, near Dorval Drive and North Service Road West, just before 6 p.m. "The individual was down about 20 feet on a very, very steep incline," said Deputy Fire Chief Andy Glynn. "Fire crews had to set up a rope rescue system to go down and remove him from the side of the bank." The rescue lasted approximately 1.5 hours, and the teen was transported by paramedics to Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for treatment of a possible case of hypothermia.
