Officers handed out approximately 1,000 gift bags and RIDE educational packages during the spot checks done between 6-9 p.m. Friday. A display table, staffed by the local law enforcement's Communities on Phone Patrol volunteers, was also set up at Oakville Place Shopping Centre. Out on the roads, police said a Part III summons was issued to a motorist for driving while suspended, and the driver's vehicle was subsequently towed away. Another driver was also handed a Provincial Offence Notice for failing to produce a driver's licence. Anyone suspecting a motorist of impaired driving is encouraged to call 9-1-1.
