The free influenza clinic will be open from 4-8 p.m. in the auditorium of the Halton Regional Centre, 1151 Bronte Rd. It is available to Ontarians aged six months and older. Halton's Health Department advises getting the flu shot now may still help protect people from contracting and spreading the virus. Flu immunization is also offered at many pharmacies, walk-in clinics and doctor's offices. Though some of the influenza virus strains now circulating are not the best match to the vaccine, the vaccine may still provide partial protection and will help with well-matched strains that could circulate later in the season, according to the local health department. While vaccinations can prevent illness, there are other things people can do to protect themselves and reduce the chance of becoming sick, including: staying at home if they are sick; coughing and sneezing into their sleeve; and always washing their hands with soap and water or by using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer before touching their eyes, nose, or mouth. For more information on the flu or flu clinics, dial 311 or visit Halton.ca/flu. 3 | Thursday, December 25, 2014 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com *All flyers not necessarily delivered to all homes INJURED?
