While vaccinations can prevent illness, there are other things people can do to protect themselves and reduce the chance of becoming sick, including: staying at home if they are sick; coughing and sneezing into their sleeve; and always washing their hands with soap and water or by using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer before touching their eyes, nose, or mouth.
