LaVette takes the OCPA stage with special guests The Walkervilles at 8 p.m., while Amero performs in the Studio Theatre at 8:30 p.m. With a musical career spanning more than 50 years, LaVette is "one of the finest vocalists and one of the great interpreters of song," according to the OCPA. With a discography spanning five decades, LaVette teamed up with producer Joe Henry for her new album, which features 11 songs com- In the Arts... posed by writers such as Mick Jagger and Keith Richards; Bob Dylan; John Lennon and Paul McCartney; Mickey Newbury; Beth Nielsen Chapman and Mary Gauthier; and Joe Henry, among others. The Walkervilles has heavy influences of Motown and rock and includes three musicians from Windsor, Ont. -- Pat Robitaille, Mike Hargreaves and Stefan Cvetkovic. Amero's musical style has been likened to "John Mayer meets Keith Urban." His five albums have generated nine national/ international awards, and more than two dozen nominations, including the 2013 JUNO Awards. OCO presents From the Rhineland The Oakville Chamber Orchestra's From the Rhineland concert will feature the return of renowned pianist Stephanie Cheng. The concert, held Saturday (Feb. 21) and Sunday (Feb. 22), will feature music from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Robert Alexander Schumann. The Saturday concert will be held at St. John's United Church, 262 Randall St., at 7:30 p.m. and feature an exhibition by members of The Oakville Sculptors and Woodcarvers Guild, and the Marquetry Society. The Sunday concert will take place at St. Simon's Anglican Church, 1450 Litchfield Rd., at 3 p.m. Tickets cost $30 for adults, $25 for seniors, $20 for students and $15 for children, and can be purchased online at www.oakvillechamber.org, or by phone at 905-483-6787 (OPUS). Young People's Concert Sunday The Oakville Symphony Orchestra (OSO) is hosting a Young People's Concert Sunday (Feb. 22). Titled, Music that Tells a Story, the concert will feature music from Frozen, as well as Modest Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain from Fantasia and Georges Bizet's Farandole from Little Einsteins. Held at St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church, 1150 Monk's Passage, the 45-minute show will also include instrument demonstrations by OSO musicians.
