www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, February 26, 2015 | 26 Acclaim Health partners with Oakville Community Foundation to manage its agency fund The Oakville Community Foundation and Acclaim Health have partnered in a venture that will see the foundation manage Acclaim's agency fund. Any registered Canadian charity can establish an agency fund. Acclaim Health had an existing endowed fund they received in the early 80s and had been managing on its own. They have now transitioned this fund to an agency pooled fund with the foundation. The partnership allows each organization to do what they do best -- the foundation, to help others through investment stewarding and community partnerships, and Acclaim Health, to help adults and seniors by providing health care and support services in the community. "The Oakville Community Foundation has incredible endowment fund expertise. By pooling our fund with others, we can grow our agency fund in ways that would be impossible on our own," said Angela Brewer, CEO of Acclaim Health. As with other funds held by the foundation, the capital is held for the long-term and invested. The income of the fund is distributed back to support the work of the fundholder, in this case, Acclaim Health. Acclaim Health is a non-profit charitable organization that provides home health care, hospice and bereavement support, palliative care consultation, Alzheimer services and volunteer visiting. Each year it helps more than 19,000 people in Halton. "The Foundation's role is in helping bring donors and charities together, identifying challenges faced in our community, and working on creative ways to solve problems," said Oakville Community Foundation CEO Rusty Baillie. "Sometimes this can be nothing more than helping a charity like Acclaim Health, maximize the effectiveness of their endowed gifts, to earn better returns for their overall use." The foundation manages 34 agency funds, including Dog Guides Canada, Conservation Halton Foundation - Douglas Cockburn Fund, The Oakville Public Library Endowment Fund, United Way of Oakville Tomorrow Fund, and several for the Oakville Hospital Foundation.
