The torch relay route for this year's Toronto Games, announced Tuesday, will begin May 30 with an arrival ceremony in Toronto. The torch will then head to Thunder Bay May 31 and wind its way through southern and eastern Ontario before concluding in Toronto July 10 to light the cauldron at the opening ceremonies of the Pan Am Games. The route will go through Burlington June 19 on its way to Niagara Falls, and come back through Oakville and Milton June 23. Burlington and Milton have been designated as major celebration communities for the torch relay. Other highlights of the torch relay include visits to six Canadian Forces Bases, a national and provincial park, A detailed map is now available online highlighting each community, with the date and location for all local celebrations. The street-level route for the torch relay will be announced in May. A separate Toronto 2015 Parapan Am Games Torch Relay will take place prior to the Aug. 7 start of the Parapan Am Games. Details on the route and the torchbearer application process will be released in April.
