- Description
- This family bible was given to "Mrs. Samuel Leaver" by her husband, "Mr. Samuel Leaver" on December 31, 1885. They had married in the town of Oakville on March 30, 1881. Jane was an Oakville girl and Samuel was from the Munn's Corners area, a farmer.
This family bible is so worn and patched, it was obviously well-used by the family over the years. Only a few pages contain information, though, the marriage information, a page with a few deaths recorded, some lovely lace was pressed inside, "Star" newspaper notices about special events in the lives of Samuel's parents, Robert and Elizabeth Leaver - which are in other records in this collection.
Jane and Samuel lived at Munn's Corners for some time, then moved into the town of Oakville. They attended the Oakville Methodist Church. - Subject(s)
