Condolences through www.koprivataylor.com Archibald Macdonald Robison Mary Christina Haddon (née Rayner) November 10, 1918 - March 1, 2015 In joy and peace we announce the passing of Mary Christina Haddon (née Rayner), in her 97th year, on March 1, 2015 at home in Bracebridge, Ontario. She was predeceased by her husband Michael, sister Patricia Pocock, brothers Father Frank Rayner (OMI), George and Angus, son-in-law David Warwood and granddaughter Laura Lafontaine (née Warwood). She will be greatly missed by her six children, Jackie Haroun (Gamal), Michael Haddon, Margaret Bennett (Mark), Dorothy Leonard (Edward), Mary Gorlick (Geoff) and John Haddon (Ruth), by her 21 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Mom grew up in Vancouver, one of seven children. She attended the Sacred Heart Convent in Vancouver, and then became an R.N. at St. Paul's Hospital. She met and fell in love with her roommate's twin brother, Mike Haddon, who it turns out, was born at the same hospital eight days after her. Their story is epic and has been remembered at various "living funerals" over the last fifteen years, and will be recounted again when we celebrate our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother's life in May. Mary Haddon was a lady in every way and did her utmost to impress upon her progeny the quintessence of etiquette, couth and grammar. To the end of our days, when asked how we are, each of us will respond "Well, thank you". Mom was resilient, tolerant, well-read, sharp as a tack even to the end. As kind and gentle as she could be, she did not suffer fools gladly. She was well loved by the Red Cross (Community Care) gals and The Friends who tended so sweetly and generously to her in her final years. Mary's piety was without question and as her grandson's wife put so aptly to her two year old, "There's no question that Great-Grandma has gone up, up, up to God." It is difficult to imagine our family without our peaceable matriarch nodding her support to each of us through life. Her presence and her wise grace will live on in our hearts forever. There will be a Funeral Mass and celebration of Mom's life in Bracebridge, Ontario at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at St. Joseph's Church, McMurray Street. He and Barb will be picnicking right about now. John died on Sunday, March 8th, nearly 89. He leaves children Paul (Marnie) of Hamilton, Scott (Mary Ellin) of Ottawa, Joanne Patterson (David) of Toronto, Mark (Carol) of New Liskeard. John was grandfather to Chris, Carly, Adam, Laura, Ashley, Emma, Molly and dear Danny - who is missed by us all. John's parents were George and Lelah Wilson, who had three other children - David, Barbara and Alex. John met Barbara Annie McKay on the Wilson family farm on the lake in West Oakville. He was the strapping young fellow on the tractor, she the fetching farmerette. John graduated from the Ontario Agricultural College at the University of Guelph in 1949, married Barb the next year and carried her over the threshold of their snug dream house on Balsam Avenue in Oakville. Many moves followed, kids added along the way. John spent half his career at Dow Chemical in Sarnia, the remainder with British-based May & Baker, mostly in Montreal, where he headed the firm's Canadian operations. One constant was the cottage at Lake Chandos, where he was famous for fruit pies, johnny cake, cabin construction, richly-narrated videos and water skiing at 70. John liked picnics in any weather, canoeing, birding, gardening, learning, planning, investing, visiting, painful puns, Scrabble and coaxing resolutions from his kids on New Year's Day. Most of all, he loved to walk and wander with Barb. In their final years, John and Barb returned to Oakville and lived well at Churchill Place. Then they were treated with care just up the road at Wyndham Manor. They made the most of life, and neither wanted a funeral. Donations in John's memory are welcome at The Temiskaming Foundation (Danny Wilson Memorial Scholarship Fund), 24 Armstrong Street, P.O. Box 160, New Liskeard, ON P0J 1P0, or at www.temiskamingfoundation.org May 2, 1929 - March 13, 2010 Loved as always ... Missed more than ever, Sweetheart George Pam Derrick Florence E. Palmer In loving memory of my dear wife who passed away March 15, 1998. We are sad within our memory; Lonely are our hearts for the one we loved dearly. Love, Pop Remembered and loved by her husband Bob, children Alison and Robert, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
