At the March 4 board meeting, trustees voted to add 15 schools to the program. The additional 15 schools brings to 39 the number of Halton public board schools providing primary Core French in Grade 1, 40 minutes per week. That's slightly more than half of schools able to accommodate it. In September 2014, 24 schools began providing Grade 1 Core French. Prior to that, students received French language instruction in Grade 4. An interim report will be brought to the trustees in November 2015 regarding this year's rollout, while an annual review will come to trustees at the end of the school year. Joining the program in Oakville are: Brookdale P .S., Gladys Speers, New Central, River Oaks, and North East Oakville No. 1. Other schools in Halton include: Park, Tiger Jeet Singh, South West Milton No. 9, Robert Little, Robert Baldwin, King's Road, Ryerson, Alexander's, Tecumseh and Paul A. Fisher.
