The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday October 2, 2002 - A3 Butterfly gazebo should be ready for Christmas Bronte H arbour should receive an early Christmas present this year. At its Monarch Ball on Saturday, the Bronte Butterfly Foundation announced its gazebo should be ready for Christmas. "We are thrilled to announce that the gazebo is going up this year and that it will be decorated in time for the Christmas festivities," said Susan Sheppard, Executive D irector who made the announcement on behalf o f the Bronte Butterfly Foundation togeth er with its chair Kevin Barry. "Because of the support and commitment from two generous and community driven Oakville companies D 'Orazio Group of Companies and Custom Cupola - construction will happen over the next few weeks," she said. As part of the announce ment, a three-dim ensional artist's rendering o f the new gazebo was unveiled to 150 gala guests and volunteers during the Monarch Ball gala fundraiser at the H arbour Banquet & Conference Centre. The rendering, created by artist Teresa Thompson of Abbey Graphics, captures the beauty of the Bronte Harbour property, while incorporating the gazebo to artistically provide the but terfly park supporters with a glimpse of the future. Rob D 'Orazio, a sponsor o f the Butterfly Foundation, said he is "pleased and proud to build this gazebo for the Oakville community." The Monarch Ball is held annually in Oakville to raise funds and awareness for the Bronte Butterfly Foundation, a not-for-profit registered charitable organization with a mandate to create an inter active learning environment for children and visitors to Halton. The outdoor natural butterfly gardens, water fea ture and winter skateway will be built alongside historic Bronte Harbour in southwest Oakville. The gazebo, interpretive centre, programs and work shops will enhance the visit ing experience and generate awareness and preservation o f natural resources.
