- Description
- This photograph was likely taken around 1900 as we can see Sarah, kneeling by her father, is wearing a wedding ring. In 1897, there were three spring weddings in the South family, the first being Sarah who married Godfrey Bently in April. Her sister, Maud, at the feet of their mother in this photograph, married William Speck in 1902.
At about the time of their marriage, William acquired a farm just south of the old Trafalgar Township hamlet of Sheridan, down Winston Churchill Blvd. closer to the present day Royal Windsor Drive. Between 1903 and 1917, they had six children. In 1913, William sold 100 acres to Sheridan Nurseries which is today located on Southdown Road, Mississauga.
In 1939, William and Maud moved to Stavebank Rd., Port Credit. - Subject(s)
