There will be exhibits and displays for the travel enthusiast including seminars pre sented by keynote speakers from travel and related services, local getaway options from Resort Ontario properties, and savings at the Destina.ca virtual store. Visitors can watch live performances from Hawaiian. Egyptian and Cuban dancers, and visit the Caribbean Village for a unique taste of the south. A special attraction this year is Florida's Sea Worlds' Julia Scardina, animal ambassador, who will appear daily with animal acts. The Travel and Leisure Show is pro duced by Premier Consumer Shows, and Travel Concepts, publishers of Travel Week News Bulletin. The show takes place at the International Centre, Airport Rd., Mississauga Hall 3. "He can sing opera and he can bring tears to your eyes with a rendition o f D anny Boy." Steljes plays the oboe and English horn. M acerollo is new to the group'and has three tim es w on the W orld A ccordion Cham pionships. De Sotto plays violin and m andolin and M eanw ell plays cello, guitar and m an dolin. All four are highly acclaim ed m usi cians in their ow n right, but put them together and they offer a unique style which covers a diverse range o f musical traditions. In fact, the g ro u p 's repertoire includes such very different musical forms as opera, classical, gypsy and show music. All these elem ents are there, underpinned by classical music perform ed in refreshing new ways. Neapolitan Cafe features a range o f joyous and introspective pieces that transport the listener through a M editerranean afternoon o f Italian and English song, rustic instrum entals, vir tuosic show pieces and original com po sitions. T heir previous recordings, w hich have played a significant role in the group's increasing popularity, are Aria Fresca; R ustic C hivalry ; and their debut recording, sim ply entitled Q uartetto Gelato. The latter two CD s have literal ly been heard around the world, since they accom panied Canadian astronaut. Dr. Robert Thirsk. during his NASA flight on board the space shuttle C olum bia in 1997. T he talented group will be on stage at the O akville C entre for the Perform ing A rts on Saturday. Their latest show. D ance o f Light, uses exciting new technology to chore ograph their music. The stage features several translu cent screens on w hich video and com puter enhanced images are projected, and the m usicians are able to becom e part o f the screen action at times while m oving out at other times. "W e're very excited about it. It pro vides a kind o f surreal landscape that was created for our m usic," explains Steljes. "Instead o f adding the m usic last as m ost films do, the im agery has been com posed out o f our m usic." The project is very new and will debut this w eekend in Sault Ste. M arieSo the O akville concert will be an opportunity for local residents to see; this unique new technology in action. G uest cellist Peter Rapson will be per form ing with Q uartetto G elato for this concert. W hile the group has been through; several changes since it began, they; continue to play at least 100 concerts a year, all over the world. "W hen it stops being fun, th at's; w hen w e 'll stop," says the irrepressible De Sotto. T hat will be a w hile yet. Quartetto; G elato is still having fun.
