Oakville edged the Alberta team 2-1 in M onday's nation al championship. It was sweet revenge for Oakville who had lost a prelim inary round game 2-1 to Alberta. Oakville shut out Manitoba 2-0, in their other prelimi nary round game, which was good enough to send them on to the semifinal match where they shut out Prince Edward Island 1-0. The women's tournament was played in St. John's, Newfoundland. Oakville qualified an impressive three teams to the national club championships this year. In the U-16 championships, the Oakville Strikers boys U-16 rep team had to settle for the national silver medal, dropping the national cham pionship game, played at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke on Monday, 3-0 to Burnaby Canadians United (see photo below). The Oakville Strikers had not allowed a goal in the pre ceding tournament.
