Many followed the parade of almost a block in length as it moved westbound on Lakeshore Road from the Legion Hall at 79 Jones St., to the cenotaph at Legion Memorial Park. It was a sombre ceremony, as 45 wreaths were laid to remember the fallen in World Wars I and II, the Korean War, and most recently in Bosnia and Afghanistan. "The crowd was bigger than ever this year - and it was raining," said Veronica Ion, president, of the General Chris Vokes, Branch 486 Bronte, of the Royal Canadian Legion. "Last year, we had a large crowd standing in front of Walton Memorial United Church, but this year, they crossed the street. It made for a close knit group." Ion was happy with the number of people observing Remembrance Day with the veterans. "Remembrance Day is the most important day on the cal endar for the Legion. The Legion is all about veterans and the contributions they made," said Ion. Clockwise from top left, Duke Stone takes the salute; Muriel and Larry Quinn of Bronte remember; Lome Scot Cpl.
