Description
Knox Presbyterian church, Oakville was crowded to capacity and Colborne street lined for blocks with motor cars to-day when many hundreds gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to the late Cecil G. Marlatt. Following a brief service at the home, the remains were taken to Knox church and to the solemn strains of the dead march played by Claude Kent, the casket, over which was thrown a blanket of white heather and roses, was borne to the chancel rail...In the front pews at the right were seated members of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club, and other clubs and fraternal organization to which the late Mr. Marlatt had belonged. Behind them were seated two hundred men from the staff of the Marlatt Leather Company. On the opposite side of the church sat thirty young women employes [sic] of the company and a large gathering of friends and sympathizers. The entire funeral service was unique in the number of men of all walks of life who attended it...
